| SCOTTISH CUP - GAME RULES (2004-2005) |
The following rules were drafted and proposed at the September meeting. They will be reviewed when games start. |
Game Points Scheme
|
Win = 2 Points Draw = 1 Point Lose = 0 Points |
Double Game Points Scheme
|
Win = 4 Points Draw = 2 Point Lose = 0 Points |
Games can be played on the double points rule, i.e. the home and away games can be played at one venue, on one night, as one game and the winner takes the double points.
At the end of the qualifying group stages, separation of teams on the same score will be as per the rules of previous cup competitions (i.e. Goals against rule).
If the teams still cannot be separated then team with the least penalties taken goes through (i.e Penalties against rule).
Any disputes will be dealt with by the executive members of the committee and those members who do not represent any of the teams in conflict.
|
Game Times
|
All games MUST be played with a MINIMUM of two stop clock periods, both teams and the referee will agree to the duration of the game prior to face-off.
All game sheets will clearly indicate the agreed periods by marking the detail on the game sheets. Game times will be dependant on ice availability.
There will be no extra play in any game. At the end of game time the result stands (no extra period or penalty shots etc..).
|
Penalties
|
Penalties will follow the same rules as currently applied to Scottish Recreational Ice Hockey.
Rolling penalties totalling 14 points, will result in a ONE GAME suspension for that player from Cup Games.
Rolling penalties totalling 30 points, will result in a TWO GAME suspension for that player from Cup Games.
All suspensions MUST be served in Cup games. It is not permitted to sit out a Cup suspension through a challenge game.
Any gross or misconduct penalties maintain the same rules as currently used for games.
Fines relating to penalties will follow the same rules as currently applied to Scottish Recreational Ice Hockey.
All Game sheets MUST indicate players sitting out a suspension.
Team Managers/Officials are responsible for controlling penalties within their respective teams.
For the duration of the Cup competition team officials will require to maintain two separate sets of records for penalties.
|
Entry Fees
|
The entry fee for this years competition is £100 and is non-refundable. All entry fees must be paid before the next meeting (28/10/04).
|
Venues
|
To be fair to all teams (e.g. distance to travel, weather conditions etc.) a suitable time and place should be agreed between both teams.
Where an agreement can't be reached the home team will provide three available dates to the away team.
If the away team does still not accept any of the dates provided without a suitable explanation then the decision will be escalated to the executive committee, who will pick one of the three dates.
Details of the discussions between the two teams will be sent to David Hand at:
david.hand@srihc.com
If the away team does not accept this decision then they will be removed from the competition.
ALL COMPETITORS MUST ACT RESPONSIBILITY WHEN MAKING GAME ARRANGEMENTS.
Any irresponsible action will be taken into account by the executive committee when making decisions on game venues.
|
Precedence
|
Cup matches must take precedence over challenge matches. |
Referees/Officials
|
Teams must only use authorised ice officials. Preference must be given to recreational referees/officials. Only in extreme cases should non-recreational officials be approached.
No recreational referee is allowed to officiate in a game where they are a registered player for either team.
Where possible (geographically and weather permitting) officials should be sought outside of the team group area.
Where none of the above rules can be met, no game shall be permitted to take place unless:
1. Two referees/officials are present on ice during the game.
2. At least one referee is a registered official - MANDATORY.
3. Both teams agree to the referee/official set up for the game in advance.
In extreme cases the away team may be awarded the game where the home team fails to make suitable and acceptable arrangements. This decision will be made by the executive committee.
|
Player Transfers / Eligibility
|
Any player who transfers between competing teams will become Cup tied if they have played (iced) during a Cup game prior to leaving their original club. Any player registering for a team after January 31st, 2005 will not be eligible to play in the 2004/2005 Scottish Cup competition.
|
Game Sheets
|
Game sheets must be completed and returned exactly the same as normal but MUST state clearly that they are Cup games. The usual fines will be applied for incorrectly completed or late forms. Anyone requiring an update on the use of game forms should contact the fixtures co-ordinator David Hand.
Any queries or comments on these rules should be put in writing to the executive committee via David Hand or may be raised at the next SRIHC meeting.
